WUM Journal Club
WUM Journal Club is a regular gathering of students to discuss recently published articles in a chosen field of medicine. Usually three members present a summary of the chosen paper, which is later discussed on the forum. All attendees may ask questions, inquiring about the experimental design or methodology and bringing a healthy amount of skepticism to presented outcomes. The aim of the Club is to create a friendly environment, in which students may enhance their presenting skills, learn how to critically appraise scientific evidence and how to conduct the debate.
The project has been initiated by Ishani Khanna, a 4th year ED medical student in April 2021. The Journal Club meetings are supervised by Wiktor Paskal MD, PhD and Albert Stachura MD from the Department of Methodology. For each meeting, an expert in the selected field is invited to share their knowledge, provide feedback and discuss the presented articles in a broader context. Presentations and discussion is carried in english only!
WUM Journal Club meetings take place biweekly during the academic year.
